Why The All Or Nothing Mindset is Ruining Your Fitness

It’s summer and your schedule has probably taken a wild turn –

Kids are home. You’re traveling. You’re spending time outside. Your usual gym routine feels impossible.

And it is, when we maintain an all or nothing mindset around our fitness.

Read it again:

One of the most destructive thoughts we can have is to believe that if we can't do something perfectly, then we can’t get better and we shouldn’t do it at all.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

First thing’s first:  ditch the all or nothing mindset.

Whew, doesn’t that feel good?

Next step: make the best with what we have/can do:

  • One workout counts: Even if you can only squeeze in a single workout session, it's progress! Focus on your main lifts or opt for a quick bodyweight workout outside or in a hotel gym.

  • Embrace mini adventures:Take advantage of the great weather and explore activities like hiking, swimming, climbing, biking, or playing sports! Use your hard work in the gym to enjoy life outside of it.

  • Have a plan: you have limited time to train, so don’t spend it trying to figure out what to do. When you do get to go to the gym, go in there with a plan so you can get straight to work.

If you’re looking for a plan - we just started a new Mezzo cycle where we are building back squats, pull ups, lunges, and bench press strength, plus conditioning options listed every week, including some running workouts you can get in while on the road.
